Prof. E.M. Donaldson has purchased the John Auman blacksmith property, on Main street, and will erect a large business building on that and the adjoining lot, which he purchased some months ago.

Eld. Foote, the popular pastor of the Christian church in Marion, was granted a summer vacation by the members of his church, Monday night, and will probably spend a month or two of it in the Mountains. We trust the rest will restore Mr. Foote to robust health.

Librarian Tidyman wants the individual who took that book without permission to return it at once.

We have been asked to warn honest farmers and others against a lot of swindlers who are said to infest the country in the guise of dealers in horses. They are said to be humbugging a good many people here, and we warn our readers to be careful with whom they trade and from whom they buy horses.

Bids will be received at Supt. Zercher’s office in Marion until Saturday, July 17, 1886, for the building of a frame school house as per specifications on file with the said Supt Zercher, the bids to be for furnishing the lumber and doing the carpenter work.

Mrs. Will Brickett and Mrs. Henry Kable, with their mother, Mrs. Whipple, have gone on a visit to Iowa and Michigan. The RECORD will keep an eye on their “hubbys” during their absence.

The Kansas Farmers’ crop report for June showed an improved condition in wheat. The quantity exceeds the estimate a month previous, and the quality is very good.
