A number of boys who were too full of enthusiastism and patriotism to wait for the 4th begun celebrating Friday night about the hour of twelve and kept up a fearful chorus of anvils and other noisy things till morning. We guess all had a good time and enjoyed the sport hugely except Ed Auman who had a can of powder explode in his hand by a fire cracker thrown by some careless individual. His hands and face were badly burned, but he is getting along very well.

One of the celebrated Mason & Hamlin organs has been purchased of Mr. Klauser, for the use of the Marion public school.

The Western Land and Loan Company, of which Mr. Donaldson is manager, have purchased the lease to the ground just south of the brick building on the corner of Main and Second streets, and will erect two business buildings thereon, at once.

We expect to be able very soon, probably next week, to announce the completion of arrangements for the erection of a large, commodious and handsome hotel in Marion—something the town has long needed. We are sure our people will hail this news with universal gladness and that they will give the enterprise all the encouragement and aid in their power, so as to make not only its erection but its management a grand success.

Mr. Wessler expects to open up another cigar manufactory and tobacco stone in the McCain building, next week. He says he came to Marion to stay, and he is going to stay. We commend his pluck.
