The Hillsboro Herald says Marion’s electric lights can be plainly seen in that city.

Uncle Tom and little Eva and Marks and the dogs and donkey drew a big crowd, as usual, Tuesday night.

The splendid Thanksgiving dinner set by the Christian ladies in the Rink was not patronized as it deserved.

Marion has a new City Marshal in the person of John Leachman. John has the “sand” and at the same time the cool judgment essential to a good marshal, we think. He has begun his duties by inaugurating a needed work of street cleaning.

John Aldrich, one of Marion’s best mechanics, has a circle stairway in his new house on the hill, which is a little the finest job of the kind in the city, we think. The whole house, in fact, bears evidence of mechanical skill of a superior order, but needs to be examined critically to be fully appreciated.

We hear a welcome rumor that Mr. Fred Wheeler, Marion’s accomplished photographer, may reconsider his determination to leave here, and may remain. We hope he will. He is a fine artist and an excellent citizen, and he and his good wife would be greatly missed if they should leave. We hope they will stay.

Marion has prospered in spite of enemies from without, and it will continue to grow and prosper in spite of an internal foe or two.
