Dr. Piper, the new lessee of the Mineral Wells at this place, came up from Wichita yesterday, and is now busy putting things in shape at what is to be the most noted health resort in the west.

The RECORD has repeatedly mentioned a canning factory as a practical enterprise in this country, and urged the establishment of one in Marion. We are now glad to announce that such an institution is almost an assured fact.

Street Commissioner Leachman is cleaning and leveling up Main Street in good style.

We have an old fogey idea, perhaps, that a gentleman can be a gentleman in a public as in a private place and if that is so, it should not be hard to keep the court room which is so nice and tidy with its clean floors, new matting etc., free from the tobacco nuisance. Will users of the weed please remember this?

The smallpox patients at McPherson, about 20 in number, we understand have all been removed to the pest house out of town, and it is believed the disease is now under control.

The Andrews Opera Company will present the comic opera, Mikado, at Jex Opera House next Monday night. The troupe is highly spoken of by the press and will doubtless be greeted by a good audience.

A special meeting to discuss the creamery project will be held this Friday night.
