Marionites who watched that rain cloud pass around to the south Wednesday, and were disposed to grumble about it not coming this way, will feel better satisfied when they learn that a young cyclone accompanied those coveted clouds and the town of Argonia, in Sumner County was badly disfigured by it.
The reception tendered the graduating class of 1888 at the elegant residence of Mr. L.F. Keller Wednesday evening was from our possibly biased point of view, a very pleasant affair. The invited guests, aside from the class, consisted simply of the parents of the graduates, the teachers of the schools, the pastors and pastors’ wives of the city, and the members of the school board and their wives.
Mr. Chas. Stroh, our new tobacconist, whose arrival we noted last week, has opened out in good shape in the capacious Toomy stone building on Marion street. He has a force of fine cigar makers employed.
A water main is being put down on Santa Fe street.
We were favored the other day with an inside inspection of the remodeled and enlarged residence of Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Jones, on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Denver street. We have seldom seen such a cozy home with such unpretentious external appearance.
Those who have strawberry vines are having a mighty good time these days. Yum, yum.
