August 3, 1888

Herbert Hannaford, a lad seven or eight years of age and son of Dr. Hannaford, fell off a fence post yesterday and broke his left arm above the wrist. His father fixed the fracture and Herbert will soon be ready to fall off of another post.

Centre Township has finally finished paying its share of the stone-arch bridge obligation, is now out of debt, and has seven hundred dollars on hand, besides.

John A. Fisher of Florence was a caller at this office last Saturday. He had with him a clothes brush in a fair state of preservation which he has had since the log cabin campaign of 1840, carrying it through both the Mexican and Civil wars.

The RECORD will not attempt to conceal the fact that the excessive hot, dry weather the past ten days has greatly changed the cheering corn prospects which no longer than that ago promised an unprecedented yield. Now, much of the corn is greatly, and some of it irreparably damaged.

A party of young ladies enjoyed a picnic at Chingwasa Springs Tuesday. The excursion was gotten up by Lillian Dudley.
