Mr. W.S. Moulton is continually discovering something new on his land near this city. The finest building stone rock, which several scientific men abroad have pronounced splendid cement material, fire and potter’s clay, and we do not remember all the other valuable “finds.” This week he showed us a substance resembling clay which when burned transforms into glass.

The combination social for charitable purposes was not very largely attended Wednesday evening, but those who were there “chipped in” quite liberally, and so something like twenty dollars was realized.

If you want to see a beautiful bouquet ride out into Wilson Township and look at those large apple trees literally loaded with blood-red fruit in Bissey’s orchard.

A mad dog excited the people on the hill last Sunday afternoon. He was fired at but missed by Frank Jones. It is said that he bit a number of dogs.

We hear many good reports from Dr. Piper and his mineral health resort. The fame of the institution is spreading, and its undoubted cures are attracting the attention of the afflicted far and near. The Record expects to see its never failing faith in these wonderful waters triumphantly vindicated, and Marion become as famous as a health resort as any of the noted resorts now so extensively patronized.
