Jefferson Davis is dead and buried. He died last Friday and was buried last Tuesday. The death of Lincoln created no more profound sensation in the north, and evoked no greater manifestations of sorrow there, than did the death of this man, in the south.

Personal liberty has just received another awful blow—this time in an interior Mexican town. The committee on the 25th anniversary of the organization of the county of Marion met in the office of the Mayor of the city on Dec. 3d. Remarks were made by Judge Doster, N.W. Gordon and others, relative to the collection of historical items of interest to be preserved. The chairman appointed a committee of five whose duties shall be to outline the scope and object of the celebration and recommend the appointment of the various committees necessary to carrying out of their plans.
