“Sunny Kansas” surrendered temporarily, last Sunday, to a Montana blizzard, and since then the struggle for supremacy between the native and imported weather has been nip and tuck. At this writing, Thursday morning, however, the foreign weather is on top, the thermometer registering several degrees below zero. We hope the cold weather will last long enough to give us a good ice crop.

The recent rains followed by a mantle of the “beautiful,” makes double sure the finest and largest wheat crop ever raised in Marion.

It is the RECORD’S painful duty, this week, to record the death of one of earth’s noblest women—Mrs. Anna M. Hannaford, the beloved wife of one of Marion’s leading physicians, Dr. Joseph N. Hannaford. Dr. Hannaford and family have the sympathy of the entire community in their great bereavement.

John Wendell has at last received tardy justice in the allowance of a pension of four dollars per month.

The heating apparatus in the new school house seems to give pretty good satisfaction in all the departments except the High School room. There it is utterly inadequate. We do not know what the Board proposes to do about it..
