Col. Hobhtzel was in town Tuesday making arrangements to resume work at the brick kiln in the early spring.

Levi Billings and his son M.O. left Tuesday for their future home in Ogden, Utah. Mr. Billings and Mellie have lived here so long, and so thoroughly identified with the history of the town, that there is something inexpressibly sad in their leaving the scene of their life work. The Record follows these “old settlers” to their new home with best wishes for their success.

The new post office is a dandy. It is a credit to Marion, and would be to any town twice as large. Capt. Fred Lewis, the Postmaster, has a great deal of pride in the office, and is fixing it up handsomely. By the way, Fred is making a splendid Postmaster in every way, and his amiable assistant is the right lady in the right place. Marion has been particularly fortunate in its Postmasters. Bowers, Hardcastle and Lewis make a trio hard to beat in the public service.

The meeting gotten up by those in favor of bringing the saloon back to Kansas was held in this city last Friday evening. The court room was quite well filled with boys, prohibitionists, Democrats and resubmissionists. Although the ladies were “especially invited” not one was there.
