Some items taken from Mayor Morris’ resume of the year’s work, which was directed to the members of the City Council are:

The largest and perhaps the most important improvement ever undertaken by the city has been carried to successful completion —the macadamizing, curbing and guttering of Main street.

The largest and most expensive single improvement of the streets was the cutting down of the hill on Elm street and macadamizing of that street and Main east of the stone arch bridge. This work was done at an estimated cost of $120.

A part of Grand Ave., Vine, Jefferson and Walnut streets were graded at an estimated cost of $45.

Forty-one stone crossings have been put in, eight of which were new. The estimated cost of these crossings is $16 each, or $128 for all. Thirty-three of the 41 crossings were relaid at the average cost of about $7 each, or $231 in all.

The widening and repairing of sidewalks in the various parts of the city has been done at a cost of $113.

The last improvement item referred to is the city building, which has just been completed. This building affords the city a safe and convenient place for housing its property and an office for the city weighmaster.
