As the RECORD predicted it would be, the farmers’ meeting in Marion, Tuesday, was a mammoth affair. We think there were never so many people together before in this county. Various alliances bore banners with striking mottoes, such as “Equal rights for all, special privileges for none,” “With charity for all and malice toward none,” “Laborers to the front,” “Ever tub must stand on its own bottom,” “Down with Scully,” etc. There were no mottoes that were not proper and worthy of endorsement by all.

That is a fine galvanized-iron front on Alex Case’s new building.

Many of our cool-headed people are “outing” at Chingawasa. Tenting is the order and the families of W.H. Evans, V.W. Church, S.L. Billings, Ben Carter, J.S. Christie, Arthur Jones, H.S. Martin, R.L. King, Taylor Riddle, Dr. J.N. Rogers, and Mrs. W.C. Klauser are “camping awhile”—not in the wilderness—but in the coolest and prettiest watering place on the continent. The Lost Springs band made the welkin resound with delightful music Tuesday evening.

Gladdys, Brown Corby’s little girl, scared the family greatly, last Friday evening, by experimenting with a bottle of corrosive sublimate. Fortunately, she drank none; but every precaution was taken, in the way of remedies, for fear she had.
