State Fish Commissioner John M. Brambaugh was in town Monday. He says if the Chingawasa folks will dam the spring branch which runs through that lovely resort he will stock it with speckled bass, He says there are none of these fine fish in Kansas waters, and he knows of no better place to try the experiment of their culture than at Chingawasa.

Our jolly friend, L.M. Knowles, the Peabody postmaster, put his warm hand in ours Tuesday.

That old reliable Marion county nurseryman, A.T. Remer of Wilson township came in Marion with some sample peaches which even surpassed in beauty and size the pictures which nurserymen are in the habit of exhibiting in books. One peach measured ten inches in circumference and several were nearly as large. We never saw finer peaches anywhere. Mr. Remer also left at this office a large limb from an olive tree grown for several years on his place, quite heavily loaded with fruit.

Ferd Funk is pro tem manager of Miss Louie Hanna’s abstract reports while the latter and Mrs. Funk are visiting in El Dorado.

Three weeks ago we detailed the fearful experience of Miss Amanda Dody, of Grant township, in being dragged along a barb-wire fence by a runaway horse, and the amputation of a limb below the knee in consequence. Dr. Hannaford now informs us that the wound has almost entirely healed, and the brave girl expects to be in town tomorrow.
