MORE

september 19, 1890

Our city schools opened Monday with about 500 pupils first day, with many more to follow. The rooms having been renovated presented an inviting aspect. The pupils having enjoyed a long vacation were glad to get back to school. The same may be said as to the teachers.

Mr. W.E.M. Oursler, of Fairplay township, left samples of splendid wheat at this office last week, which “panned out” thirty-eight bushels, machine measure, to the acre. And it was not a little “patch,” either, but there were seventy acres of it.

The nasty nest over in the Jex addition was raided last week, and the chief alias lodged in jail.

The Cottonwood Valley Bank has remodeled the flagging sidewalk around its entire building, reduced it to grade, and made most of it new, a splendid job. And Dr. Rogers has continued the good work in front of his building.

Mrs. L. Jacques “Millinery Parlors” on Main street opposite Loveless & Sacket’s opens Saturday, Sept. 27th. Old and new customers, friends, and neighbors are cordially invited. “Come one, come all, come with a good will or come not at all.” Cheerily, merrily evermore. It is pleasant to trade at her beautiful store.
