october 17, 1890

Mr. Thomas Dickerson, census taker for Fairplay township, has received a letter from Washington enquiring if he didn’t overlook the deaths occurring in the township the past year, as he reported none. He says there was no death in the township during the year. They don’t understand at headquarters how healthy it is in Kansas.

Charles Robinson, the saloon candidate for Governor, is seventy-odd years of age. Think of a man ripe for the grave devoting the last years of his life to the glorious cause of red and white drinks.

Mr. A.T. Remer, the nurseryman, had a couple of his peaches painted by Mrs. Snider, and the work was artistically done. Mr. Remer took the pictures to New York with him.

Splendid rains have fallen all over this county the past week—just the thing to send the great wheat acreage into winter quarters in fine condition.

Lost and Found

Lost on Main street, between the Post office and Scimeter building, a gold bar breast pin with a rhine stone in center. Finder will please return it to Mrs. M.A. Carter.

Whoever has found a big black sow, long and lank, will please report to the owner, S.L. Billings, at the lumber yard, and be rewarded.

Mr. Eugene Myers has not found his lost hog but he has found another one, a small black sow which the owner can get by calling him.
