MORE

november 25, 1892

The crowded condition of our columns and the lateness of the event prevented a “writeup” of the unique and successful “box social” at Aulne, last week. The fine large new school house was crowded, including a delegation of fifteen or more from Marion. The program was filled with excellent attractions. The box social furnished lots of fun as well as provisions. Mr. Will McGinnis acted as master of ceremonies, in a very graceful manner and the $14 “taken in” will equip the Sunday school with new song books.

Gen. John McCarty, knowing our penchant for pumpkins, sent us one, Monday, that weighed sixty-six pounds. Quite a nice paper weight.

The lovers of good music who were guests of Mrs. Tilson and her pupils on Monday evening last, at her pleasant home, were most delightfully entertained, and the one sentiment from the appreciative audience was that the success of this first recital of the season must have been highly gratifying to the worthy and gifted lady whose every energy bends toward her pupils, to the many patrons of Marion’s musical artist, and to the pupils themselves.

The person who “borrowed” a set of harness Sunday night from grandmother Moulton’s stable, will of course, return the property to this good old lady at once.
