The first snow storm of the season swooped down upon us Thursday night. It was preceded by a good rain. The snowfall was quite heavy, and drifted greatly.

The Council adjourned to meet again Monday evening, Dec. 12, and will at that time receive, open and consider bids for the building of the Jex bridge, over the Cottonwood river.

Mr. H.P. Williams, an enterprising young business man, has rented the Buchanan building, and will open a “Racket Store,” and will whoop up things at a lively rate.

Buckingham’s Dye for the Whiskers can be applied when at home, and is uniformly successful in coloring a brown or black. Hence its great popularity.

There will be a concert at the Aulne school house Saturday evening, Dec. 10. Besides home talent, some of the best musicians of Marion and Peabody will be represented in the concert.

Mrs. J.N. Rogers and Mrs. Paul F. Jones gave the first tea party of the season at the residence of the former Wednesday afternoon. Despite the snow blockade, about thirty ladies were present, and the event was greatly enjoyed by all.

The rain and snow was just the thing for the wheat.
