That thrilling confined story, the delinquent tax list, expires this week, as our readers will probably be glad to hear.

Board of Commissioners met in Marion Centre, Aug. 9. Redistricted the Commissioner Districts as compact in territory and equal in population as possible, as follows: First District comprising the municipal townships of Wilson, Catlin and Risley. Second District, Clear Creek, Grant, Centre and Fairplay. Third District, Doyle, Summit, Peabody and Branch.

Last Saturday wasn’t a remarkably good day for the Morning Star pic-nic, and it didn’t pic-nic.

This office is ornamented with a handsome new double cabinet, the handiwork of that skillful manipulator of the saw and plane, Henry Kable.

Mr. F. Penland is eating corn bread from this year’s corn.

Wednesday was a big day for us. Mr. Frazer brought in those mammoth potatoes; Mr. Hamilton donated a muskmelon; Mr. Battey contributed a basket full of tomatoes, and John M. Brumbaugh remembers us with a watermelon. These things, with the usual amount sent in by the neighbors, enabled us to get through the day with tolerable comfort.

Several fine rains since our last issue have ameliorated the severity of the weather, and also placed the ground in good condition for plowing.
