State News — While plowing on A.J. Towne’s farm, in Osborne County, the other day, T.J. Clark and Sam Towne plowed up and destroyed about 140 snake eggs. The largest number found at one place was 40, and the smallest number 9. Farmers generally say that there seems to be an unusual number of snake eggs this season.

Mr. T.W. Reed wishes to employ a farm hand. A good chance for someone who wants work.

The camp meeting opened in Billings Park Wednesday night. It promises to be a rich religious feast. Several visiting ministers are already on the ground, and many others, including some of the most eminent in the state, are coming. We trust that much good will be accomplished.

Hull & Verling, of Pioneer Mills, at Florence, are making 100 barrels of flour per day and warrant it equal to any in the market.

This week’s issue lists the following officers of the city of Marion Centre: R.C. Coble, mayor; E.W. Hoch, J.M. Corbett, M.H. Stone, John S. Christie, G.M. Knox, councilmen; E.N. Eby, police judge; R.M. Crane, city clerk and attorney; G.M. Knox, city treasurer; J.H. McAllister, city marshal.

Messrs. J. Seasar and J.O. Bly, with their little machine, just thrashed our wheat right out—and they thrashed it well, too. You don’t have to furnish any extra sacks for the straw and chaff after them; they take it all out.

The Baptist Sunday school had a fine time at Chingawasa grove Wednesday.
