145 run to support education

The third annual Marion Elementary School PAC Dam Run for Education had 145 participants that walked, jogged, or ran Saturday to raise funds for the school.

A total of 109 people both children and adults ran in the one-mile fun run while 36 ran in the 5K race.

“The exact figures are not yet available as some transactions are still outstanding, but we figure we made over $3,000 for Marion Elementary School on this event,” Tammy Armstrong said Monday.

Armstrong said that in addition to the money the runners contributed 83 businesses donated money, services and door prizes for the event.

“We also had 18 volunteers and 19 others who purchased shirts,” Armstrong said. “We gave away 18 awards to winners of the races and 83 total door prizes.”
