Marion economic development director Jami Williams officially has resigned her position. She accepted an economic development position with Clay County.

Other businesses nominated were the Auto Tek, St. Luke Physician Clinic, and Seacat Do-it-Best.

The new indoor pool at the aquatic center opened May 26 to more than 150 patrons, giving Marion residents a place to swim for the first time since the summer of 2006.

Grand Funk Railroad will be in Marion to perform at 9 p.m. Saturday during Chingawassa Days in Marion’s Central Park. The sound is the same, but the line-up is slightly different. It’s been nearly 40 years since the original group took the stage and recorded memorable songs included the band’s trademark song, “We’re an American Band.”

Eleven states were represented May 24 at the 112th annual Florence Alumni Banquet at the Florence gymnasium. Years represented were from 1933 to 2008. Mike Robinson, class of 1967, was master of ceremonies.
