It is said that Horace Greeley’s estate includes several sections of land in the northwestern part of this county.

“Uncle” George Griffith will sow a largely increased acreage of wheat this fall, and everyone who can will do likewise. This county will be one vast wheat field in a few years.

“Uncle” Will Billings presented us this week some excellent grapes grown by home, among them some transparent ones. Though ripe, they were green, as paradoxical as this seems.

Chancey Barnes and Caroline Brocklies are announced as nominees for president and vice president by the Women’s Right Centenniel Independent National Convention. Who these individuals are and where their extensively named convention met, we confess ignorance. Their platform is:

• Abolish all existing taxes and substitute a single tax on property.
• Dissolve all standing armies and navies.
• Allow freedom of trade with all nations of the world.
• Deliver women from all wrongs and oppression so they may be fully equal with men politically, socially, and religiously.
