Westbound driver failed to stop at intersection of U.S. 77, K-150

A University of Central Missouri graduate student died in a two-car accident Nov. 16 at the U.S. 77/K-150 intersection three miles east of Marion.
Kansas Highway Patrol investigators said a 2008 Toyota RAV4 driven by Taylor Kaitlin Sharp, 20, of Derby was southbound on U.S. 77 at 8:30 p.m., when a 2011 Nissan Sentra westbound on K-150 driven by Naveen Raj Arcot-Bhasker, 24, of Warrensburg, Mo., failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the Toyota.
Sai Kartik Ramanadham, 23, from India, a passenger in the Sentra, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident, KHP investigators said.
The Sentra was struck on the passenger side, and the force of the collision sent the Sentra spinning off the highway, coming to rest in the grass southwest of the intersection.
Kansas Highway Patrol, Marion County Sheriff, Marion Fire Department, and Marion Ambulance personnel responded to the accident.
Arcot-Bhasker and Sharp were transported by separate helicopters to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. As of Monday, Arcot-Bhasker had been released from the hospital, while Sharp remained a patient. WMC staff declined to provide a status update.
