24 teams compete in women's scramble

Twenty-five teams of golfers from Augusta, Colwich, Council Grove, Emporia, Herington, Hillsboro, Marion, McPherson, Newton, Overland Park, and Wichita competed in a nine-hole scramble Thursday at Marion Country Club.

First place in championship flight went to Judy Noller, Marion, and Kathy Miller, McPherson, who combined to shoot 35.

Second and third went to Jenny Gihring and Autumn Altum of Newton and to Lois Smith of Marion and Terri Wittrig of Wichita. Both teams shot 37.

Other winners:

First flight — 1. Chris McNieve and Ellen House, Wichita. 2. Kim Madison and Kathy O’Keefe, Wichita. 3. Terrie Ramsey and Vanessa Martinez, Wichita.

Second flight — 1. Sheila Hudson and Dina Aaby, Wichita. 2. Lisa Hemphill and Kody Kelsey, Marion. 3. Raye Dirks and Brenda Kimberly, Hillsboro.

Closest to line (No. 1) — Mickey Lundy, Marion.

Longest drive (No. 4) — Linda Frey, Wichita. Among seniors, Ardie Streit, McPherson.

Longest putt (No. 6) — Judy Patton, Emporia.

Closest to pin (No. 9) — Brenda Kimberly, Hillsboro.

A social hour and dinner followed the tournament.
