At the annual meeting of Marion County Farm Bureau at Tabor College cafeteria Thursday, members congratulated Wayne Colle, who will retire his position Jan. 1 after 35 years with Farm Bureau, 30 as Marion’s agency manager.

Florence Elementary School music department will perform song and dance selections Thursday night from the Broadway show “Grease.” Main character roles will be played by Rob Hartley, Alison Ogden, Wade Thrasher, Vicki Hartley, Dean Snelling, Tonya Jensen, Kelly Linnens, Charlotte Thies, Michele Griffith, Andy Hett, and Robin Summervill.

Ronald Baxter of rural Marion was declared this week’s winner of Marion County Record’s produce derby with a 100-pound pumpkin. It should make a fine jack-o’-lantern, Baxter said.

Judge William Clement presided Oct. 24 over a special memorial session of Marion County District Court. The event was to honor the late Edwin G. “Pat” Westerhaus, who had served the court as both judge and attorney.
