Sheriff June Jost offered 40 parcels of property for sale Monday morning at Marion County’s first tax sale in 12 years. Held in the courthouse hallway, the sale drew a crowd of between 40 and 50 bidders.

The “Marion, Kansas — Best Place I’ve Seen” buckles are selling like hotcakes. The limited edition pewter buckles are numbered, boxed, and an attractive gift just in time for Christmas.

It was a beautiful snow Sunday morning! Flakes were so large they looked like feathers. It came on top of some rain Saturday and Saturday night, melted quickly and was gone by afternoon.

Kitch ‘n’ Kraft, a new business venture in downtown Marion, welcomed a steady stream of business on its three opening days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Marissa Makovec, rural Pilsen, opened shop on Thursday with a table of home-baked cakes, pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, bread, and kolaches.
