Mayor Peggy Blackman has returned from the National League of Cities convention at Indianapolis, Ind., where she represented Kansas. She is president of the Kansas League of Municipalities.

Ed Costello made headlines this past week. He and his associates — wife Mary, son Chris, and Jim and Joan Donahue — bought the bank at Strong City. They opened it Friday morning, after it had been closed by authorities the prior evening.

The name of Mrs. Cecil McLinden, Marion, was drawn Saturday afternoon as the weekly winner of a 20-pound turkey, given away each week by Marion Chamber of Commerce.
