Veterans of Foreign Post 6958 presented annual awards, from bingo funds, to Marion County high school students Joseph Neal Hockensmth of Florence for $400 and Kimberly Kay Grossnickle of Peabody for $150. The funds are to be used to further the students’ education.

Janelle Bowers, bride-elect of Doug Paden of Topeka, was guest of honor at a bridal shower Saturday at the Youngtown United Methodist Church.

Making mobiles is an interesting hobby for Irene Richmond. A Colorado relative gave her two weaving lessons in 1977 and Irene has created hundreds of delicate fish mobiles to give away or sell since then. At $7 each, she sells about 40 mobiles per year.

A new $7,000 Genesis birthing bed at St. Luke Hospital will be the central feature in the hospital’s plan for a modern, newly remodeled obstetrics department. The bed is the latest model of its kind. Paul Wilson, administrator at St. Luke, says his goal is to hit 100 births in 1986.

There were 70 in attendance at the 67th annual Hett reunion held Sunday in Marion’s Central Park.

Over 800 people enjoyed the barbecued pork supper at the hog roast sponsored by the Tampa State Bank Saturday evening. Many stayed for the street dance with music by Maurice Pritz’s band. Jason Commerford held the winning ticket for the quilt made by members of Kountry Korners EHU.
