The topic of countywide zoning has been rekindled and Marion County Planning Commission members plan to re-evaluate an earlier proposal and combine new ideas.

Happy birthday greetings are appropriate for the Ol’ Thing this week as she begins her 117th year.

John Crofoot of Marion will be a guest lecturer during the management and marketing seminars sponsored by the School of Business at Emporia State University. Crofoot is a former state senator and has been a member of the board of directors of the Specialty Advertising Association International.

Robert Mueller of Tampa won first place with his filly at the Appaloosa Horse Show during the recent Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Mueller’s son, Russell, won first in the walk-trot horsemanship contest, first in the barrel competition, and second in poles. He was the high point youth for the nine-and-under category.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collett were in Topeka Friday morning to attend the swearing-in service for new Kansas attorneys. Their son, Keith, was one of the new attorneys sworn in.

Tracy Burkholder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Burkholder, is a member of the Butler County Community College “Grizzly” volleyball team. The 5’7” sophomore is a graduate of Marion High School.
