Patient rooms at St. Luke Hospital will be getting an $86,000 facelift. Eleven patient rooms and seven restrooms will be refurbished. Plans call for new floors, ceilings, wall coverings, windows, and television sets.

Members of 20th Century Club met at the home of Mrs. Harvey Sanders May 31 for their annual spring brunch, which traditionally concludes the club’s year. Hostesses were Kaye Darrow, Evelyn Anderson, Margaret Pickering, Pat Brock, Debbie Buccholz, Gayle Thomas, Gay Wheeler, and Betty Sanders.

The 15th annual Marion Lake Open Fishing Derby turned out to be the biggest ever as 136 fishermen sent in entries and took part. In previous years, the average number of entries has ranged from 79 to 90.

High school age students played games Friday during the grand opening of The Depot, the old Santa Fe Railway station that is being remodeled into a youth recreation center. Playing electronic pinball machines are Vicki Hartley, Christine Laue, Melissa Johnston, Denise Meierhoff, and Brian Kramer.

Darlene Leeds, a member of the Florence Ambulance Service, was recently recognized as the “Volunteer of the Year” by the American Red Cross.
