Coneburg Inn of Peabody took home the first place trophy in the “A” division of the Marion County men’s league slo-pitch softball tournament held last weekend in Tampa.

Two residents at Marion Manor will celebrate their 100th birthdays during August. Essie Moore will turn 100 on Aug. 16 and Della Suffield will become a centenarian on Aug. 6.

The boys’ 200-meter free style and free relay teams went undefeated during Marion Swim Team’s first season. Swimmers included Larry Dalrymple, Dirk Kannady, Carl Abbott, Paul Jackson, Andy Hett, and Brian Kramer.

The Marion County Fair Association has added two new attractions to its schedule of events for the 56th annual fair. The first new and unique feature is the ostrich races Aug. 20. The other attraction will be a lip synch contest, also on the 20th.
