About a dozen concerned public officials and businesspersons from Hillsboro, Marion, and Peabody met with Marion County commissioners Monday morning to voice their views on a proposed 1 percent county sales tax. The majority of those in attendance said they opposed the tax.

Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stiller are invited to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 17 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Don and Cora Rogers, Kenny and Margie Sandwell, and Marvin and Maggie Meisinger hosted a buffet supper May 20 at the Marion County Lake hall for their 1984 high school graduates, Corey Rogers, Kerry Sandwell, and Shelia Meisinger.

Centre High School class of 1979 held a five-year class reunion May 26 in the Tampa Legion hall.

Rochelle Mueller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mueller and a spring graduate of Marion High school, has been selected to attend the Summer Honors Institute at the University of Kansas. During the institute, she will study language and writing skills.

Among those who qualified for the sub-state Junior Olympics at McPherson Saturday were Joey Kramer, 80 meter run; Charlotte Thies, long jump and 400-meter dash; and Thurston Thies, 400-meter dash.
