Marion County Law Enforcement Center is a busy place, with a new air conditioning system being installed in the dispatching area and a complete new radio system, including 911 emergency telephone services also is in the process of being completed.

Mike Classen, a native of Marion, has returned to accept a position as assistant cashier at Marion National Bank. The son of Matthew and Mary Kay Classen, he says he is glad to be in “the old home town” and looks forward to renewing old friendships and making new acquaintances.

Tracy L. Ratzloff, 18, died early Saturday morning when her home burned at 119 S. Billings in Marion. The fire was reported at 5:30 a.m. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lacock of Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Ehrlich will host a reception at the Marion Senior Center Aug. 5 honoring their daughter Carol and her husband William Stevens, who were married Feb. 19 in Vacaville, California.

Marion FFA chapter officers attending the state leadership camp at Rock Springs included Chris Stinchcomb, Jenny Herzet, Lori Plenert, and Eric Soyez. Those attending from the Centre chapter were Pam Plett, Matt Nelson, Angie Plett, Denise Klenda, John Stika, Jason Stika, and Spencer Martin.

Mary Bolte of Marion is pictured with a 10-pound cabbage, which she entered in this week’s “Produce Derby.”
