Jim Cott cashed in at Tiemeier’s Store in Lincolnville Monday morning as he spent his $100 check from the Marion County Record subscription contest. Cott said it was the biggest thing he had ever won.

Some 35 members of Valley United Methodist Church went caroling Dec. 23 and were invited to the home of Don and Betty Stenzel, Tamara and Jeff for a chili supper later in the evening.

Following the resignation of Ed Costello two week ago, Jack Summerville, Marion, was appointed Friday by the Florence City Council as new municipal judge.

Marion County sheriff’s deputy Bob Soyez submitted a letter of resignation Monday to county commissioners.

Lynette Lalouette was the state first runner-up in individual competition at the statewide vocational agricultural leadership contest conducted in late October. Marion High School also had three other students rank in the “top 10” in the state. They are Gary Raleigh, who place third, Bret Dannenfelser, fifth, and Michelle Thole, ninth.
