The City of Marion will pay for one-third of the cost of two heart monitors for county ambulance, if Hillsboro and Peabody will do likewise. The offer was made at the regular meeting of the city commission Monday afternoon when JoAnn Knak, county ambulance director, said the equipment is needed.

Workers on Marion’s sewer project are busy constructing the city’s new sanitary sewer line. Downtown streets will be torn up one-by-one as the new storm sewer is laid.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Winter of Ness City, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Sandwell, Mr. and Mrs. Don Rogers, and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Kelsey left from Kansas City International Airport March 14 on a trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

John R. Sandwell, son of Ed Sandwell of Marion, has been named general manager of a new television station being established at Wichita. The station, KSAS-TV, channel 24, is scheduled to begin operations this summer.

Jack Webb of Marion is a repeat winner of the Lee Company’s “salesman of the year” award. The Salina-based wholesale hardware firm honored Webb at its annual spring dealer market recently in the Bicentennial Center at Salina.
