Darryl Woodson, popular administrator of the Marion school district for the past five years, announced his resignation Monday night as superintendent of schools. His resignation came as a surprise to the large audience on hand for the regular meeting of the board of education.

Two-year-old Steffanie Dawn Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith of Marion, won the drawing Saturday morning in Marion Pharmacy for a giant Easter bunny.

Lanell Tajchman, bride-elect of Aaron Hett, was guest of honor at a come and go miscellaneous bridal shower Saturday afternoon in St. Mark’s Activity Center.

Mike Kelsey, a senior at Marion High School, and Mark Makovec, a senior at Centre High School, have been chosen to participate in the Thresher All-Star Basketball Game at Bethel College in North Newton.

The Kansas Department of Transportation approved a bid Thursday for construction of a new bridge over the Cottonwood River on the west edge of Marion.

Eight German exchange students have been in Marion since March 31 and have traveled around Kansas to various interesting sites. They will leave Marion Friday for their trip back to West Berlin.
