Carol Walsh, a physician’s assistant, has joined the staff at St. Luke Medical Clinic in Marion. The certified health care specialist will examine and treat patients under the supervision of Don Hodson, M.D. Walsh is a graduate of Wichita State University’s Health Science program and has seven years of medical experience.
Meggan Silhan, daughter of Terry and Kathy Silhan, was crowned Great Plains Young Miss during an awards presentation Saturday evening at the Miss American Star Pageant at the Ramada Inn-Broadview in Wichita.
Janet Post of Burns is a finalist in the Marlboro County Music Tour currently being conducted at Wichita.
Candy Plett and Chris Bina were named queen and king of homecoming activities Friday at Centre High School. Other queen candidates were Michele Broce, Gina Riffel, and Lisa Stika. Other king candidates were Raymond Kristek, Mike Stika, and James McDonald.
Alden Bowman, lieutenant governor of Division V, Kiwanis, installed Marion Kiwanis officers at the organization’s Monday meeting. The new leaders are Bill Nelsen, president; Roger Hannaford III, president-elect; and Marlin Buchholz, vice president.
The excavation of the site of an ancient Wichita Indian village has gotten underway this week on the north side of Marion.
