Marion Die and Fixture Builders Inc. on West Main Street is expanding by adding a $250,000 10,800 square-foot steel building to their facility. The company makes dies and fixtures, which are used by manufacturers such as Coleman and Hesston for stamping out parts.

Jennifer Stinchcomb, Marion High School senior, won first place in a contest to design the “ultimate Rolling Stones album cover” in a contest sponsored by the art department of Marymount College, Salina.

City of Marion commissioners accepted an invitation Monday from Ed Koch of Paper Press for two local youths to attend the 750th birthday celebration of the city of Berlin, West Germany. Mayor Martin Tice said the city will recommend two youth for the trip.

Marion Kiwanians enjoyed an informative program Monday noon when Sara Mills, an eighth grade student at Florence Middle School, spoke to them about the five-day Future Astronaut Training Program she attended at the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. Taking training last summer, she was a member of the first class to complete the program.

Again this year, the 33rd time, families at Burns will open their homes on Thanksgiving as hosts to 10 foreign students attending the University of Kansas. Mrs. Ed (Betty) Grimwood has been the driving force behind the Burns community Thanksgiving effort for many years.
