Five head of cattle were killed Saturday when a tractor-trailer rig overturned on U.S. 77 south of Florence. Area lawmen helped to round up some of the 101 steers roaming the highway in the early morning fog.

The Monday MarBowl Lanes team won first place during the 26th annual Marion Men’s bowling tournament. Members of the winning team include Ron Kreutziger, Pat Holub, Gary Klassen, Steve Smith, and Bill Keith.

Sharlene Classen, a pre-med student at Tabor College in Hillsboro and a native of Aurora, Neb., has been hired to play the organ during Sunday services at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. She is the featured organist in this week’s series on church musicians.
