An estimated 70 recreational vehicles came to Marion last weekend for the Area IV of Kansas Campers Association campout. Recreational vehicles were parked in rows filling the parking lot south of the football field. Campers attended programs, sidewalk sales, and events hosted by Marionettes Camping Club.

A Marion tavern owner has purchased the private club located next door to his establishment on Main Street. Jae Schinnerer of rural Marion has purchased “The Chief” from Harlow and Edith Warneke.

The Durham community is planning a three-day festival on July 17, 18, and 19 to mark the 100th anniversary of its founding.

Christine and Carol Laue spent their spring break in Miami, Fla., visiting Dr. and Mrs. Tomas Guerra and daughters, Lucy and Lilly.

A group of Aulne youngsters have turned a long-closed bank building into a playhouse. Jason Summerville and Dusty Hett are pictured cleaning up the area around the Aulne State Bank building, which was built in 1909.

David Hett of Marion High School received honorable mention on the boys’ basketball all-state team. Hett, a senior forward for the Class 3A Warriors, is the son of Jerry and Peggy Hett of Marion.

Wanda Williams has played the organ at Aulne Methodist Church for 28 years. She is the subject, this week, in the Record’s ongoing organist series.
