The junction with U.S. 77 and K-150 three miles northeast of Marion is a busy scene of highways construction. Bids have been approved to pave 14 miles with concrete along the route west to the junction of the newly relocated U.S. 56 with K-15 northwest of Hillsboro.

The first birthday of Nickolas Hett was celebrated June 30 at a party given by his parents, Aaron and Lanell Hett, at their home. The party began with a cookout, followed by cake and ice cream.

Neighbors in the rural Burns area helped to harvest the crops Friday of cancer victim Norbert Zogelman. Six combines and a crew of workers made short work of Zogelman’s 140 acres of wheat.

Time, the weekly newsmagazine, published a full page in its July 29 issue recognizing Irv Schroeder of Hillsboro as a national finalist in the 18th annual Quality Dealer Award competition.

Lloyd and Ellen Darrow are pictured as they look over scrapbooks, photographs, and other memorabilia about Aulne’s past. Ellen Darrow will give a historical talk during the community’s centennial celebration Sunday at Aulne United Methodist Church.

Brick walls were laid this week for the new car wash being constructed on the corner of Third and Water streets in Marion.
