Construction of a new fellowship hall and classroom wing to the Presbyterian Church is progressing. The project is expected to be finished this fall.

An open house at the First Christian Church in Salina Aug. 16 will honor the retirement of former Marionite Kenneth Sly. Sly retired July 31 after 27 years as a postal clerk in the U.S. Post Office at Salina.

Some 22 members of the Marion High School football team attended a camp July 20-24 at Fort Scott Community College where they attended full-contact training sessions and learned to run the wishbone offense. Those attending were Jason Bina. Larry McLain Jr., Brad Tice, Lyle Bolte, Ed Zeller, Mike Greene, Phil Hanes, Andy Hett, Eric Thies, Alan Kruse, James Olsen, Calvin Hett, Mike Helmer, Chris Smith, Jason Allison, William Teufel, and Matt Brenzikofer.

Chris Blackman, 17, who will be a senior at Marion High School this fall, and Craig Mueller, 19, who will be a sophomore at the University of Kansas, have returned from West Berlin where they spent from June 22 to July 7 attending functions of the 750th anniversary of the founding of Berlin and went on sightseeing tours. The youths said they enjoyed the visit and stayed with families whose members had been hosted earlier by Marion families.
