Charles Bredemeier Jr. was honored Monday for more than 42 years service to the city of Marion, Bredemeier, city superintendent, received a 40-year pin from the League of Kansas Municipalities during a league convention this week in Overland Park.

Marion High School’s graduating class of 1927 held its 60th year reunion on Old Settlers’ Day. This is the last organized class reunion but a “last member” club was formed. As long as there are two class members who are able to get out, the club will meet on the second Saturday of September of each year to eat together and visit.

Births announced this week included Clinton Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jeffrey of Marion; Kasey Reid, son of Michael and Becky Schwemmer of Wichita; and Katherine Lynn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn L. Carlson of Burdick.

Members of the Pilsen community are seeking to form an improvement district and apply for a federal grant to build a sewer system.

A collection of oil paintings will be displayed at Marion City Library during the month of October. Mrs. Bruce (Ruby) Patton is the featured artist.

Cyndi Woerz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woerz, has been named to the 1987 list of Outstanding College Students of America. The senior pre-med major at the University of Kansas was selected for the honor based upon academic achievement.
