Representatives from eight towns in Marion County attended the countywide “Town Meeting” at Hillsboro Thursday evening. Extension director Steve Tonn led the meeting, which was called for the purpose of discussing economic development within the county.

Marion High School homecoming king and queen candidates are Amy Hett, Kathy Collett, Christi Steward, Randy Brock, Chris Vinduska, and Brad Tice. Queen’s Court ceremonies will be at Friday night’s basketball game against Herington.

Bill Meyer, publisher of the Marion County Record, was elected president of the William Allen White Foundation during the annual meeting of trustees Feb. 10 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Kristi Enos is among the patrol of five girls and two adults who will be attending Girl Scout World Center in Europe from May 29 to June 27. Kristi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos of Marion.

City of Marion commissioners have agreed Monday to purchase the property north of Valley United Methodist Church, on the east side of Third Street, to be used as the site for a proposed new fire station.
