Hans Rosenberg, a native of Denmark, but a resident of Munich, Germany, landed a 22-passenger twin turbo-prop plane at Marion Municipal Airport this weekend. Rosenberg was ferrying the plane from Munich to Oklahoma City and decided to land in Marion where he had been told he had relatives. He spent the night in Marion getting acquainted with his second cousin, Frances Vinduska, and flew on to Oklahoma the next day.

Edward Davies, Marion, won the Marion County Republican Central Committee nomination for county sheriff at a meeting held Wednesday evening in the First National Bank basement at Hillsboro. An installation ceremony will be conducted Friday.

Fifteen former Marion residents and their spouses attended their third annual get-together Feb. 19-21 at the home of Maurice and Marjorie Siebert in Sun City, Ariz.

An article by Pam Farney tells the story of Ern Hett, 1985 Kansas Artist of the Year, who makes copper and brass sculptures that he sells in his Copper Shed and in other gift and souvenir shops throughout the state.

Marion High School’s varsity quiz bowl team took first place recently in the CVL tournament. Members of the team are Mark Meisinger, Phil Hanes, Robin Summervill, Brad Tice, Lane Allison, Lori Lalouette, Ed Zeller, and Greg Tice.
