Construction has begun on the Kingfisher’s Inn addition at Marion County Lake. The dining area, kitchen, and foyer are being expanded to double the present capacity. The restaurant will remain open throughout most of the two-month-long project.

Jack Webb of Marion has again won honors as 1987’s top salesman for the Lee Company at Salina. He represents the firm as a salesman of wholesale hardware.

The adding on of a 40-foot addition to the Western Graphics/Hoppy Line building is underway at First and Santa Fe in Marion. Construction should be completed in about a month.

An Easter egg hunt was held Saturday afternoon at the home of Max and Toby Loveless in Antelope. Children present were Jill, Pat, Marty, Michelle, and Stephanie Combs of Lincolnville, Rebecca Collett of Marion, and Jenny Maggard.

Marion High School’s geometry team placed first March 28 at Cottonwood Valley League mathematics contest. Tara Abbott, Jennifer Thole, Chris Smith, and Kristi Herbel made up the winning team.

The rain that began Thursday night and ended Saturday netted from 2.50 to 3 inches of much needed moisture.

Smaller Kansas communities, alarmed over the exodus of downtown trade, may need to rethink their economic development strategies according to David Darling, Extension community development specialist at Kansas State University.
