Hallett Materials is starting completely portable operations and closing its permanent plants. The new operation uses a portable rock crusher that is moved from area to area. Stockpiles of rock will be kept at former plant locations. All workers at the Florence and Marion plants will be retained.

Kelly Construction has finished pouring new steps on the north and west sides of the courthouse.

April Ogden, daughter of Marion and Linda Ogden of Marion, has been named “Cougar of the Week” at Barton County Community College, Great Bend. A sophomore at BCCC, she is a basketball and track star. She was selected as the women’s track and field athlete of the week.

Alan, Pamela, and Jason Kruse hosted a reception Sunday evening at the Strassburg Baptist Church in honor of the 25th wedding anniversary of their parents, Dwight and Jerrie Kruse.

A group of students from Berlin, West Germany, spent the past two weeks with families in Marion and Florence. The group left for home Tuesday after a farewell dinner Friday night with their host families

Members of this year’s MHS golf team are Chris Hett, Chris Stinchcomb, Sara Mills, Eric Steward, Julie Harbison, Matt Brenzikofer, Brad Tice, Kelly Linnens, Lyle Bolte, Andy Hett, Chris Blackman and Jerry Hess. They are coached by Jim Versch.
