Marion Kiwanians celebrated the 65th anniversary of their club Oct. 10 at a birthday party held in the dining room of Kingfisher’s Inn. The club was sponsored by El Dorado and chartered in 1923.

The Marion County Business and Professional “Women’s’ Club, representing members from Hillsboro and Marion, have selected Jeri Klose as their “Woman of the Year” for 1988.

Lois and Fern Scharenberg and Herbert and June Jost were married in a joint ceremony Oct. 28, 1938, at the Youngtown Evangelical Church. A reception honoring their 50th anniversary will be held Oct. 29 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Stephanie Summerville, daughter of John and Becky Summerville of Marion, has been selected as an officer of the Hutchinson Community College “Dragon Dolls” dance troupe.

Meat prices advertised this week by Dave’s IGA feature boneless hams at $1.59 per pound; chuck roast, $1.49; pork chops, $1.99; arm roast, $1.69; blade roast, $1.29; ground beef, 99 cents; and sliced bologna, pound package, $1.19.

Ashlee Moore, daughter of Pat and Jandee Moore, was guest of honor Saturday at a party at her parents’ home. Ashlee was celebrating her fourth birthday.

Florence Middle School and Marion High School vocal music students, under the direction of Steve Zielke, will perform Oct. 27 in the Marion City Building auditorium.
