It was decided at the Monday meeting of Marion County Commissioners that a $125,000 check will be returned to Peter Kambros, a Chicago lawyer whose group purchased Cedar Rest, now Peabody Nursing Home. County Treasurer Verden Harms said the $125,000 check was supposed to be a first payment, with the balance, $63,000 to come by the end of 1988. County Attorney Wheeler will return the check with a letter that should clear up the misunderstanding.
Robb Hartley was selected by Marion High School faculty as “Student of the Month” for November. A senior, his favorite school activities include football and weight lifting. He is the son of Cheryl Hartley and Robert Hartley.
Kansas Quick Flick Inc. opened its doors Nov. 10 at 213 E. Main St. The local store is managed by Lisa Mayfield. Part of the store is a video arcade, with seven units in a back room. Popcorn, candy, and soft drinks are also available.
Mike Ottensmeier has graduated from U.S. Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and is now enrolled in law enforcement technical school at San Antonio. He will spend Christmas in Marion with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ottensmeier.
Nicholas Carlson, son of Greg and Linda Carlson, was two years old Monday and was guest of honor Sunday at a family party at the home of his parents.
