A group of children are pictured collecting plastic Easter eggs at the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce Easter egg hunt held Saturday in Central Park. Children collected hundreds of eggs in a 30-minute period. Thumper and Thumperette were able to be there through the help of Gerry Harris and Kathy Sprowls.

Julia Mullen has made headlines in the Wichita newspaper, with recent feature stories and photographs relating to her 100th birthday anniversary and her eight-decade practice of decorating trees with colored eggs during the Easter season.

Mr. and Mrs. Junior Herzet of rural Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 9 at the VFW post home. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Charlotte Thies was one of four Cottonwood Valley League girls invited to play on Saturday in the Flint Hills Area American Heart Association all-star basketball games at White Auditorium in Emporia. Charlotte is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thies of Marion.
